The New
Jersey State Society of Anesthesiologists (NJSSA) is committed to helping
anesthesiology residents in the state's four training programs participate in NJSSA
activities. As experience in organized medicine often translates into a greater degree of
practice satisfaction, NJSSA is committed to encouraging resident activy in local and
national programs. We are in the process of establishing a statewide resident component to
specifically represent the needs of anesthesiologists in training.
This section will create statewide programs of interest to residents. Issues specific to
residents including employment contracts and practice opportunities will be addressed. The
resident section will help residents who have a desire for statewide and national
leadership positions achieve their goals. There are diverse opportunities to serve on
committees, both on the state and national levels. The resident section will be a
springboard for these activities.
Based on the number of residents we have in the state, we are entitled to send two
residents to the annual meeting of the ASA. This meeting provides a valuable means for
sharing ideas and experiences with residents from training programs all over the country.
There are many programs during this annual meeting of special interest to residents,
including a residents research contest and a resident component leadership training
session.
Feel free to contact the NJSSA if there are any questions or if
there is any way we can be of assistance.
